Terms of Service

1. Who May Use Verbolus

Verbolus is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. You must be legally able to agree to these Terms. If the law where you live requires a parent or guardian to approve your use of the Service, you may use it only with that approval.

2. Accounts and Guest Play

Some Verbolus features can be used as a guest, while other features may allow or require you to sign in. You are responsible for safeguarding access to your account and for activity performed through it. Do not impersonate another person or provide misleading account or profile information.

How we collect, use, retain, export, and delete information is described in our Privacy Policy.

3. Games, Scores, and Puzzle Content

Verbolus games are provided for entertainment. Scores, streaks, standings, timers, accepted words, puzzle availability, and other game results may be corrected when we discover errors, abuse, or technical problems. Unless a separate promotion expressly says otherwise, game results have no cash value and do not entitle you to a prize.

Dictionaries and puzzle data are not perfect. If you believe a word or puzzle should be corrected, please send feedback through our Contact page.

4. Acceptable Use

When using Verbolus, you agree not to:

• Break the law or infringe another person's rights
• Harass others or submit abusive, hateful, deceptive, or inappropriate profile or group content
• Manipulate scores, standings, streaks, accounts, or other game records
• Attempt to access another user's account or any nonpublic part of the Service without authorization
• Disrupt, overload, probe, or damage the Service or its security
• Use automated tools in a way that interferes with normal play or places an unreasonable load on the Service
• Introduce malware or otherwise use the Service to harm Verbolus or another person

5. Profiles, Groups, and Other User Content

You remain responsible for display names, avatars, group names, and other content you choose to provide. You grant Verbolus permission to host, display, copy, and process that content only as reasonably needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service. You must have the right to provide the content you submit.

We may remove content or restrict access when we reasonably believe it violates these Terms, threatens users or the Service, or creates legal or operational risk.

6. Verbolus Content and Intellectual Property

The Service, including its games, software, designs, artwork, text, and branding, is owned by Verbolus or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms give you a limited, personal, nonexclusive, nontransferable right to use the Service as provided. They do not transfer ownership of the Service or its content to you.

7. Payments and Subscriptions

Verbolus may offer voluntary support payments, paid features, or subscriptions. The checkout page will show the amount, currency, billing frequency, and other material terms before you pay. Payments are processed by the payment provider identified at checkout, such as Stripe, and may also be subject to that provider's terms and privacy policy.

By completing a payment, you authorize the stated charge. A voluntary support payment does not purchase ownership of Verbolus or create any benefit unless the checkout page expressly says otherwise, and it is not a charitable contribution or tax-deductible donation. Subscriptions renew as disclosed at checkout until canceled. Canceling stops future renewals but does not automatically refund the current billing period. Refunds are handled according to the terms presented at purchase and applicable law. Please use our Contact page if you believe a payment was made in error or without authorization.

8. Third-Party Services

Verbolus may rely on third-party services for functions such as sign-in, hosting, analytics, or links to other sites. Those services may have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services that we do not control.

9. Availability and Changes

We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features, games, preview functionality, or the Service itself. We do not promise that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. We may restrict or terminate access when needed to protect users, enforce these Terms, comply with law, or operate the Service.

10. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Verbolus and the people who build and operate it will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, scores, streaks, access, or profits arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service changes. We will post the revised Terms here and update the effective date. If a change is material, we will provide reasonable notice where appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after revised Terms take effect means you accept them.
